Chairperson Vice Chairperson Treasurer Secretary
Comments from the Chair Some of this year's initiatives

Welcome to Walkley Primary School's School Council page. I would like to take this opportunity to explain some of the initiatives we have been working on this year and also a little bit of information about how our council is run and how children are elected. To become a member of the School Council we had to write a short statement explaining how we would treat everybody the same and try to make the school a better place. All the children voted for the person they thought would be best suited for the jobs which make up our council. The person who runs the meetings is the chair person. The chairperson gets help from the vice chairperson, and the secretary writes down everything that is said at the council meetings. Finally, there is the treasurer who looks after all the finances. Each class in school is represented by a boy and girl and KS1 classes are represented on the council by KS2 children. At the meetings we discuss what needs improving in school. We get ideas from children who approach us with concerns or ideas and in designated class time every half term. Please take the time to look at some of the initiatives we have helped to action this year.
Many thanks
Chairperson

Through information and opinion collected by our class representatives, it was highlighted that certain improvements to the school building and its interiors were necessary. We decided to action the following areas:

Children's toilets:
Newly tiled, the toilets are much nicer!

Classrooms:
New blinds in KS2 classrooms.

New carpets, tables and chairs in the Y5/6 classrooms.

School Council Descend On Town Hall

Children from Years 3 to 6 descended on Sheffield Town Hall on Tuesday 4 th May to meet the Lord Mayor and a selection of Sheffield councillors.

Councillor Graham Oxley, the Lord Mayor of Sheffield provided the Walkley School Council an insight into the infrastructure and running of a council on a much bigger scale than that led so expertly by the Walkley Executive School Council.
